You will need to patch and recompile OCaml to run mod_caml on AMD64. However don't worry - you only need to copy a single file out of the patched OCaml sources so it doesn't need you to rebuild any system packages.

Method

  1. Download the source of OCaml corresponding to your currently installed version.
  2. Apply this patch to create libcamlrun.so (bug 3866).
  3. Apply CODE32 fix patch (bug 3869). (A modified version of this patch is now incorporated into OCaml >= 3.09.2)
  4. Recompile (./configure; make world).
  5. You should find that this builds byterun/libcamlrun.so. Copy this file somewhere where it can be found by linkers and loaders (eg. /usr/lib might be a good place).
  6. Proceed to compile mod_caml as usual.
